Pringle of Scotland – SS17

Pringle of Scotland – SS17
This collection is lovely, simple yet sophisticated. Great colours and stripes used throughout. I like the way the shirt sleeves are slightly longer and sit just past the wrist. The narrow trouser are worn high on the waist with a narrow leg, a larger width turn up which in turn makes them cropped in length. Another styling tip for this season is the use of the tuck in, whether shirts or jumpers everything is tucked in at the waist which elongates your legs, it’s a styling that I will play around with when I put together my own outfits. All in all a wonderfully stylish collection.

Wales Bonner – SS17

Wales Bonner – SS17

A very feminine collection not only in its styling, fabric and trims but very much in the cut and tailoring. Simple colouring with cream, black, red and white. Beautifully put together and wonderful style. I really love this collection.

Spring / Summer 2017 – what do you see?

As a designer I’ve always looked at the catwalk shows to help me understand and pin point trend, direction and colour….. These days it’s true to say that the shows have become shall we say diluted in the eyes of the public as fashion is now dictated through the world of celebrity (a theme I will explore in detail at at later date). None the less if we look at each show individually we can spot little design cues that can be translated into the high street. The high street whether you like it or not has a bottom line and that is profit. A dirty word to some. No one knows which design cues will make it on to the high street and indeed which ones will be the big selling lines so it’s important to spot these design cues and take from them what you will.

I’ve gone through the latest fashion shows individually and I’ve noted what I see as design cues that done correctly and well, would easily be translated onto the high street. Please feel free to comment, I may not see what you see and I’m always willing to learn….
